Funding

The goal of the Noroton Fire Department is to provide the highest quality emergency services possible while efficiently using the resources granted to it by the town of Darien and through the generous contributions of the community.

The Noroton Fire Department is a private 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that is partially supported by taxes collected by the town of Darien to provide fire-rescue services. However, funding from the town of Darien is insufficient to support the operations of the department requiring the Noroton Fire Department to rely heavily on the generous contributions of the Darien community for portions of both the department operational and capital budgets. Through this mix of municipal and community funding, Noroton is best able, in a fiscally responsible way, support its continued operation.

Fire/Rescue Services in the Town of Darien

The Town of Darien has three volunteer fire departments including Noroton. Each department is responsible for its individual district in addition to being able to provide mutual aid to the other two departments.

In addition, to assure that an adequate response is available during the daytime on weekdays when the least number of volunteers are available, all three departments are dispatched together to any structural calls.
